translated from Spanish: AMLO asks the population of Aguililla not to fall into provocations

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador asked the population of the municipality of Aguililla not to fall into provocation in the face of the violence that exists in the area.
In a morning conference, he said that a group in Aguililla wants the soldiers to leave and there to be no surveillance, but it would leave the population defenseless, he said, and become a battlefield.
López Obrador commented that elements of the armed forces have the indication “not to respond or fall into provocations”; he acknowledged that they carry out their work in the municipality with responsibility and respect for human rights.

“What do I say to the people of Aguililla? What is the call? That we do not fall into any provocation, that we can live with dignity, without poverty, which is what we are trying to do with the Welfare programs. It is preferable to inherit poverty from children, but it does not dishonor,” he said.

The president reported that the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, will meet today with representatives of several secretariats of the federal government to develop the plan that will be implemented.
He said that a welfare bank is already authorized in the municipality and social programs, care for young people, the elderly, and producers are going to be strengthened.
López Obrador said that the plan in Aguililla is that whoever wants a job will have a job; he pointed out that young people will be left helpless, to avoid being “hooked” and taken to work as “hawks”.
Situation in Aguililla
Since last April, residents of the municipality of Aguililla have asked state and federal authorities for help due to ongoing clashes between organized crime groups.
Earlier that month, local authorities reported the discovery of 8 mutilated bodies with gunshot wounds following an alleged confrontation between the Carteles Unidos group and the Jalisco Cartel New Generation.
Soon after, federal authorities heeded the call for help and held a meeting with Michoacan Governor Silvano Aureoles to find a peaceful solution.
