The Argentine ambassador to Bolivia, Ariel Basteiro, took aim at Patricia Bullrich for the donation of weapons from the Government of Mauricio Macri to the neighboring country that was under the regime of Jeanine Áñeze indicated that under his charge was “Gendarmerie and that the material delivered is not used by the armed forces, but by security forces.” In this regard, he anticipated that the investigation “could yield more results” and reported: “That same day some Argentine journalists who had a hard time and who were rescued by the embassy to Buenos Aires with the plane that brought gendarmes with weapons that later returned to Argentina, but there were comments that there were other boxes that nobody knew had been done with those boxes. “This is very serious, it was a research work that we carried out between the Bolivian Foreign Ministry and the embassy. I have been here for more than two months and when I arrived there were comments about the arrival of an air force plane, a Hercules, which arrived on the 12th and brought gendarmes to reinforce security because of the situation in Bolivia in general,” the official added. He commented: “This morning I had a meeting with the Foreign Ministry and there they told me that they had information that could confirm that Argentina could be involved in the delivery of weapons. We looked for what I never imagined I would look for so much in a file and very hidden, in a very minor folder, the note they showed today appeared”
In this regard, he continued: With the endorsement of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, we handed it over to the Bolivian Foreign Ministry with Alberto Fernandez, who is aware of the issue, in order to put ourselves at the service of all the information that Bolivia requires. Today I was with Luis Arce, the president, and the foreign minister, who are studying the possibility of making a judicial and criminal case at the international level.” Finally, he concluded: “It seems to me that there is a direct responsibility of those who were participants in what was a coup d’état that Bolivia is still suffering and crying.”
