translated from Spanish: Judge denies Derbez delivery of UDLAP facilities

The Third District Court in Matters of Civil, Administrative and Federal Works and Trials of Puebla denied Luis Ernesto Derbez his request to have the facilities of the University of the Americas of Puebla (UDLAP) returned to him.
“This authority is unable to order the possession of the facilities of the Fundación Universidad de Las Américas Puebla Institución de Beneficencia” and/or “Fundación Universidad de las Américas Puebla” and/or “UDLAP” to be handed over to it, he ruled.

In recent days, Derbez had announced that the University’s legal situation was about to be resolved in his favor.
On June 6, the legal team of the university’s so-called “new board of trustees” denounced Luis Ernesto Derbez Bautista for alleged money laundering and organized crime.
The members of this leadership said that there is a embezzlement of 720 million dollars from the foundation for the benefit of the Jenkins family.

In response to the allegations, Derbez Bautista said it is a “campaign of lies” against him and executives.
Judicial authorities in Mexico City and the state of Puebla ordered, on June 28, that the University of the Americas Foundation of Puebla be restored to the legal and material possession of the UDLAP facilities, which until now had been under the control of the Mary Street Jenkins Foundation.
It was also ordered that a legal, physical and accounting audit of the University’s administration be initiated immediately.
On July 12, Armando Ríos Piter was appointed as the new rector of the University of the Americas Puebla, replacing Luis Ernesto Derbez Bautista.
