The Ministry of Health today published the 141st Epidemiological Report on the state of the coronavirus pandemic in the country. The report reported that the number of infected people fell for the sixth week in a row and only one commune recorded more than 300 active cases of Covid-19.
According to the report released today, there are 11,692 active cases across the country. Six weeks ago, on 12 June, there were 62,126 infected people, a gap of 50,434 cases. The figure is also the lowest since December 2.
The drop in cases has been widespread; the Metropolitan Region leads the decline in active cases in this recent time. Thus, the RM reports 4,450 infected, its best figure of the year.
At the regional level, it is followed by Valparaíso (1,180), Biobío (1,165), El Maule (695), Los Ríos (631) and La Araucanía (622).
Meanwhile, at the communal level, Puente Alto tops the list, with 362 infected, the only commune in the country with more than 300 cases. It is followed by Maipú (274), Copiapó (238), La Florida (224), Valdivia (213), Santiago (209), Peñalolén (184) and Antofagasta (184).
In Chile, as of July 25, 2021, there have been 1,932,425 cases of COVID-19 (1,610,345 laboratory-confirmed and 322,080 probable, no laboratory confirmation), with a rate of 9,931.1 per 100,000 population.
