translated from Spanish: Presidency rectifies and will make public amlo’s act in Badiraguato, Sinaloa

The Presidency of the Republic decided that it will make public the event of Andrés Manuel López Obrador during his visit to Badiraguato, Sinaloa, this Friday, July 30.
This, after it was announced that the president would supervise a highway in the region privately, without transmission or media presence.
Presidential spokesman Jesus Ramirez Cuevas said that due to the holding of the popular consultation on 1 August, the president’s Sunday activities, which will consist of the supervision of roads in Nayarit, will be private.

Regarding President @lopezobrador_’s tour this weekend in Sinaloa, Durango and Nayarit, we clarify: the events of Friday and Saturday will be public; due to the holding of the Popular Consultation on the first of August, sunday activities will be private.

This is not the first time that the Presidency has organized closed events, because when there are events on roads, in Pemex or National Guard facilities, no transmissions are made.

In addition, he told Animal Politico that due to the ban by the popular consultation, no promotional acts or government achievements can be carried out at public events, so recently they have held more events without press with the president.
On his last visit to Badiraguato, in March 2020, López Obrador greeted during an event the mother of drug trafficker Joaquin “el Chapo” Guzman, sentenced to life in prison in the United States.
After criticism and questioning over the greeting, the president said at the time that he went to supervise a road that is being built in the Sinaloan mountains.
“She went to where the explanation about the road was made and they told me that she was there and that she wanted to greet me and I got out of the van and greeted her,” he said.
Lopez Obrador said he could avoid greeting her so as not to arouse criticism from his opponents, but that Consuelo Loera “is a 92-year-old lady and I already said the fatal plague is corruption not an older adult who deserves all my respect regardless of who her son is and I will continue to do so.”
