A few days after the announcement of the creation of the DNI and Non-Binary Passport, the national government presented a bill to declare July 25 as the National Day of Gender Identities with the aim of promoting equality and making visible all identities beyond the heteronormative binomial varon/woman.

The author of the bill that has already entered the Chamber of Deputies is Mónica Macha, deputy of the Frente de Todos and president of the Committee on Women, Gender and Diversity of the Chamber Baja.La measure it is proposed to establish that date as the “National Day of women, lesbians, bisexuals, transvestites, transvestites, non-binaries, intersex and other gender identities and expressions of African descent, Afro-Latin, Afro-Caribbean and diaspora”. The date coincides with an international anniversary for which since 1992 the International Day of Afro-Latin, Afro-Caribbean and Diaspora Women has been celebrated worldwide.
It was on July 25 of that year when the first meeting of afrodescendant women from 32 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean was held in the Dominican Republic to denounce the racism and sexism to which they are historically subjected and to promote strategies to confront them.
