Several people were killed during a shooting on Thursday (12.08.2021) in Plymouth, in the southwest of England, police said, after indicating that the situation was under control.
Local media said five or six people had been killed in the incident and that a gunman had been killed by police. According to Sky News, the shooter was killed.
Police authorities did not confirm the death toll.
Devon and Cornwall Police said he was called to the Keyham area at 6.10pm on Thursday.
“There have been several fatalities at the scene and several other victims are being treated,” added the police, who so far offered no further details of the incident.
The Southwest Ambulance Service previously said it had responded to the incident with a significant number of resources, including hazard responders (HART), multiple ambulances, air ambulances, multiple doctors and high-level paramedics.
