In its six years of existence, the VTR Foundation, belonging to the telecommunications company, has focused its work on democratizing access to information and digital culture. This view proposed by VTR has allowed that throughout its history, it is understood that technology is one of the ways to improve the quality of life and expand the possibilities of people. They have focused on innovating and expanding access to new smart technologies, delivering connectivity experiences and digital entertainment.” We are committed to expanding the possibilities of using technology and connecting the country. We expect each family or community to empower themselves, empower their talents and develop new skills and perspectives that enrich their environment,” says VTR CEO Vivek Khemka. “To this end, it is essential to reduce the digital divide. We are sure that all the initiatives that we have carried out and continue to execute, are a concrete and effective contribution to achieve that objective, “he adds. Launch of App MideFrom its origins, digital education has been one of the fundamental pillars of work of the VTR Foundation. In that effort, more than a year ago they developed a free educational material called: Digital Content for the Classroom, which supports the work of teachers, parents and the entire school community, through educational video capsules which includes material from the academic curriculum of the Ministry of Education. In the framework of its anniversary, the VTR Foundation arranged the material of these contents in the mobile application MIDE, where teachers and students will be able to access this information for free and in a format based on questionnaires, infographics and videos. A little more than a year after its launch, digital content for the classroom has been viewed by about 110 thousand users on its different distribution platforms, which include fundacionvtr.cl, the Educar Chile portal and aprendoencasa.org. “Given its success, we saw an opportunity to upload all our material to this new MIDE App, to benefit and impact a greater number of students,” explains Cyntia Soto, Executive Director of VTR Foundation. The MIDE APP is downloaded from any mobile phone through the App Store or Google Play. It consists of eight weekly classes, with subjects from 5th. basic to 4th. medium, those that are updated until completing the cycle with the 60 classes of the program.
