translated from Spanish: AMLO will give confiscated assets to poor in welfare tianguis

The goods seized and stored in government warehouses will be delivered to the population of the country’s poorest municipalities through the Tianguis del Bienestar, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced this morning.
In a press conference, he said that instead of keeping the merchandise stored in warehouses or burning it, clothes, shoes, toys and other items will be distributed free of charge.
“We have already taken the decision to deliver all those goods to the people, all those goods, we are going to clean all the warehouses and it is going to be delivered to the people, to the poor,” he said.

The program will be coordinated by the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Rosa Icela Rodríguez, and the secretariats of the Public Service, Finance, Defense, Welfare, as well as Customs and the SAT will participate.

The Secretary of Security, Rosa Icela Rodriguez, explained that in the first phase the tianguis will be installed in 70 municipalities of extreme poverty, in four entities of the country.

He indicated that it began in 10 municipalities of Guerrero; later it will be installed in 40 municipalities of Oaxaca; later in 15 of Chiapas and then in 5 of Veracruz; it is expected to benefit 894,998 people.
The official explained that on Wednesday and Thursday the first Tianguis was installed in Atlamajalcingo del Monte, in Guerrero, where 231,823 items were delivered over the two days.
He stressed that the government spends one thousand 147 million pesos a year on rent from 69 wineries, the SAT and Indep, to store confiscated items.

Rodriguez said that the people who come to the Tianguis del Bienestar will be able to choose the number of items they need, in a period of 20 minutes, and a person in charge of the tables where the goods will be placed will count the products and issue some registration cards to have a control.
The way to summon the Tianguis will be through perifoneo and by glued cardboards.
