The municipality of San Ramon, in the Metropolitan Region, finally has a new mayor after the elections of 15 and 16 May, which required repetition in some tables of the sector, since this Wednesday assumed the DC Gustavo Toro, who will replace Miguel Angel Aguilera.
This, because the aforementioned Aguilera, who was formalized for the crimes of illicit enrichment from January 2013 to September 2017; bribery, between 2014 and 2016, and money laundering, between February 2013 and May 2017; he withdrew his appeal to annul the last elections in the commune.
“I receive with humility and joy the mandate of the neighbors to direct the destiny of the commune for years to come. It is a pride to be mayor of the commune of San Ramón, the same one that saw me born and grow up. In these lands where I have forged my social vocation and commitment to the most unprotected. I am from the social fabric through the different territorial, sports, cultural and religious organizations. Building a history in community with a participatory and collective spirit, the same spirit that my parents taught me, who were always present in different instances of communal organization,” Toro said in his investiture speech.
“I am fortunate to belong to this beautiful commune, where I met my wife, with whom I have three beautiful children, the most important thing in my life. I know it has not been easy. Since the silence of anonymity, these have been difficult months. There is no doubt that in the midst of this very complex campaign, life has resurfaced and we have been parents again,” he added.
“I assume this responsibility as mayor after 25 years of social volunteering in the municipality of San Ramón, which paved the way for the municipality. The same municipality that has been hit the last few years. The acts of corruption that we have had to face are public knowledge, the same ones that have put at risk the local institutions, causing discontent and discomfort of many neighbors. Today a cycle is closed,” he said.
“On this rainy day that invites us to renew our spirit of service and clean up all the bad that has damaged the commune; I invite you to work together regardless of political, religious, or anything that may divide us. It is time to think about the people who need us most, to walk together and to make San Ramón a beautiful commune that allows us to say that we are going to live better, “he closed.
