translated from Spanish: Judge defers Anaya hearing to October to review indictment against him

Ricardo Anaya’s hearing was rescheduled for October 4, because he did not have access to the investigation folder.
The federal judge of the Norte prison, Gustavo Aquiles Villaseñor, said this was to guarantee his right to an adequate defense.
And the clarification was made that hearings by videoconference must be held within the national territory.

Around 11:00 a.m., Ricardo Anaya showed up for the virtual hearing this Thursday to learn about the charges against him, to which he was summoned by the Attorney General’s Office.
The defense of the former presidential candidate, as well as personnel from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF), are participating in the hearing.
The FGR will ask the judge to link Anaya to trial for the crimes of bribery, criminal association and money laundering.

The former candidate will have the opportunity to present evidence to prevent this from happening.
The evidence against Anaya
Animal Politico published on Tuesday that the FGR accused the former presidential candidate of the PAN, Ricardo Anaya Cortés, of having received bribes in the last six-year term based on three statements by Emilio Lozoya, the statements of five witnesses provided by him –two of whom retracted–, and the copy of the diary of the debates of the session of the Chamber of Deputies in which the energy reform was approved.
Lozoya explains that between April 2013 and August 2014 a criminal organization was formed through which 97 million 190 thousand pesos – from the odebrecht construction company – were dispersed between PAN legislators, such as Ricardo Anaya, and the PRI. All this through multiple deliveries in cash and in denomination notes of 500 and 200 pesos.
As for the witnesses, they are the same and they are the same evidence that was used last April to charge former PAN senator Jorge Luis Lavalle Maury in the criminal plot, who has been imprisoned since that date after having voluntarily presented himself to the hearing. The Judge of the North Penitentiary who imprisoned him is the same one who summoned Anaya to appear.
The evidence against Anaya Cortés and the others involved in this criminal scheme was presented by FGR prosecutors at a private hearing held in April before federal judge Marco Antonio Fuerte Tapia. Animal Politico had access to the transcripts of that hearing.

The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) yesterday presented a public version of the evidence it has against the former presidential candidate, in which it states that in 2014 it received bribes of at least 6.8 million pesos from Emilio Lozoya, then director of Pemex, to vote in favor of the energy reform.
Ricardo Anaya responded to the Prosecutor’s Office; assured that a vote in favor is not proof that a bribe was received, and that his vote was 8 months before the alleged delivery of the money.
Anaya student of those who started with Salinas: AMLO
Over the past week, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and Ricardo Anaya have exchanged accusations, after the former presidential candidate was summoned to a hearing at the North Jail.
On Thursday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that Ricardo Anaya had to do with corruption in Pemex and said that he is “a student of those who started with Salinas de Gortari, with the whole policy of looting,” such as Diego Fernández de Cevallos.

“What we have about Mr. Anaya has to do with Pemex; money was taken from PEMEX to buy votes from lawmakers who are now opponents. They were paid to vote for the privatization of oil,” he said during this morning’s conference.
Foresighted to the audience, Ricardo Anaya uploaded a video on his social networks in which he rejected that Carlos Salinas was his teacher as pointed out by President López Obrador; she claimed that he was a 9-year-old boy in 1988 and that she has never greeted him in his life.
