Olga Sanchez Cordero will leave the Interior Secretariat (Segob) to return to the Senate of the Republic and chair the Board of Directors.
The new interior secretary will be the current governor of Tabasco, Adán Augusto López, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said.
“I ask my countrymen to allow Adam to come and help me to finish consolidating the transformation process, consummating the transformation,” he said.

The governor reported that today he will request his license and if the Chamber of Deputies approves it, he will be in a position to join the secretariat.
“It is a commitment that I accept, I will put all my effort, all my effort, all my time to contribute to consolidating the Fourth Transformation,” he said.

The coordinator of the Morena bloc also said that there is consensus to propose that Sanchez Cordero preside over the Senate.
“I have spoken with the candidates to chair the Board of Directors, and with the senators of the Parliamentary Group, to propose Dr. Olga Sánchez Cordero as president of the Senate for the first year of the LXV Legislature,” he said.
Until now, Olga Sánchez Codero’s seat was occupied by Jesusa Rodríguez.
