The visiting minister Guillermo de la Barra Dünner today informed the former member of the Manuel Rodríguez Patriotic Front (FPMR), Raúl Escobar Poblete, of the resolutions adopted in the case for the terrorist murder of UDI Senator Jaime Guzmán, which occurred on April 1, 1991 in the commune of Ñuñoa. The diligence was carried out at the Justice Center of Santiago.
Escobar Poblete arrived temporarily extradited from Mexico to be tried for the murder of the aforementioned authority and was informed of the prosecution issued against him in his absence by the then visiting minister Hugo Dolmestch Urra. This, due to his responsibility as the author of the homicide, a resolution that motivated the extradition request approved by the Supreme Court in July 2017.
Minister de la Barra informed Escobar Poblete that he will have to enter to serve preventive detention in the Santiago 1 Penitentiary Center and submit to the rigorous quarantine. Once the previous one has been completed, the proceedings adopted in the case will be carried out.

The Chilean Gendarmerie was also instructed to safeguard the inmate’s security and prison conditions, since the extradition granted makes express mention of the matter.
Once the criminal proceedings against him have been concluded, he must return to Mexico to continue serving the 60-year prison sentence imposed in that country for the kidnapping of a foreign citizen.
