Six States Begin Vaccinating Minors with Comorbidities

Chiapas, Durango, Chihuahua, Tlaxcala, Coahuila and Hidalgo are the first entities to apply the COVID-19 vaccine to minors between 12 and 17 years old.
Although not all entities have detailed the comorbidities that will be taken into account, most summon adolescents living with chronic heart conditions, chronic conditions of the kidney, liver, lung or digestive system, chronic neurological diseases, moderate to severe immunosuppression and serious genetic abnormalities that affect various systems of the human body.
Only Durango explicitly contemplates in its call for people with disabilities either multiple or “deep”, such as myasthenia, multiple sclerosis and Down syndrome.

So far, the federal government has only published the strategic guidance for vaccination against COVID-19 in adolescents between 12 and 17 years old who live with some comorbidity, which may increase the risk of serious illness and death, although without detailing dates.
The guide includes 44 diseases that are considered as a risk factor for minors; includes teenage pregnancy.
Minors will receive the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine which, to date, is the only one that has demonstrated safety and immunogenicity in people 12 years and older, and which has authorization from the Federal Commission for the Protection of Co.ntra Health Risks (Cofepris).
