Fundación Nuestros Hijos launches online fundraising campaign to support children with cancer

With the aim of providing dignified attention and care to children and adolescents with cancer, from today Fundación Nuestros Hijos is carrying out its National Collection 2021 #CambiaSuVidaHoy. Contributions can be made through www.colectafnh.cl.
“Although in our country the survival rate of this disease reaches 76%, 8 out of 10 survivors have physical or cognitive sequelae, which require comprehensive treatments,” said Dr. Marcela Zubieta, president of Fundación Nuestros Hijos.
“That is why, today more than ever, we need all the people who feel the pain of a child with cancer as their own, as any father or mother would feel, to join this collection with which we will be able to continue changing the lives of hundreds of children in the country,” he added.
For the second consecutive year, the foundation carries out its campaign 100% virtually, to maintain the safeguards and safety of the volunteers. This collection seeks to raise $150 million to continue supporting children and adolescents with cancer through their shelters, hospital schools and rehabilitation centers, among other supports for children and their families.
Fundación Nuestros Hijos, throughout its 30-year history, has supported about 16,000 children with some type of service, in 100% of the children’s oncology units in the country.
“Today, more than ever, we need to stay on the path of active cancer treatments. We want to be a space that promotes rehabilitation in hospitals, hospital education, the reintegration of children with cancer in order to project their school, work and family future, “says the director of the foundation, Alejandra Méndez.
The institution’s next challenge is to build the first comprehensive cancer rehabilitation center in the commune of San Miguel, which will bring together all services in one place, and will increase the reception capacity for children from regions, as well as expand coverage for adolescents between 15 and 19 years old.
The Digital Collection will take place between October 25 and November 7. From today all people have the opportunity to change the lives of children with cancer in www.colectafnh.cl.
