PAHO considers it discriminatory to restrict travel to people by type of vaccines

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), considered that countries should allow international travelers to enter, without any distinction to the vaccine that has been applied to prevent the spread of Covid-19, this in order to avoid discrimination. This was mentioned at a PAHO press conference, Jarbas Barbosa, deputy director of the organization, who recalled that the United States said that it will reopen the southern border with Mexico to non-essential travel, but will only allow the entry of people who have been inoculated with the vaccines authorities by the World Health Organization (WHO), preventing the entry of people who were vaccinated with Sputnik V and CanSino. It is very important that countries can reach bilateral, multilateral agreements so that all the vaccines that are being used are accepted,” said PAHO Deputy Director Jarbas Barbosa. He pointed out that the main intention of avoiding these practices is that tourism can be facilitated and thus boost the economic reactivation of business. It should be noted that in Mexico millions of people have been vaccinated with the doses of Sputnik V and CanSino, however, Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that it is up to the WHO to accelerate the process for vaccines to be authorized.
