On high alert 20 municipalities of Michoacán for Hurricane Rick

Morelia, Michoacán.- Before the arrival of Hurricane ‘Rick’ to Guerrero, the Government of Michoacán is on permanent alert in the coastal region, Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla reported this morning.Through a statement, it was shared that, so far there are floods and flooding in various roads and areas of the municipal capital of Lázaro Cárdenas, as well as the fall of branches and trees in the coastal area. The municipalities that present maximum risk upon Rick’s arrival are: Aguililla, Apatzingán, Aquila, Arteaga, Buenavista, Carácuaro, Coahuayana, Coalcomán de Vázquez Pallares and Chinicuila, Churumuco.In addition to La Huacana, Huetamo, Lázaro Cárdenas, Múgica, Nocupétaro, Parácuaro, San Lucas, Tepalcatepec, Tiquicheo de Nicolás Romero, Tumbiscatío, shared the statement. The rest of the Michoacan municipalities are also at high and intermediate risk, so the general population was asked to heed the recommendations of the authorities. At a press conference, the governor of Michoacán, Alfredo Ramírez, said that the main focus of attention is on the Sierra Costa and the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas, where elements of the Army, Navy and National Guard are already located, before the arrival of Hurricane Rick. 13 of them are at 100 percent capacity, so he called on the municipalities that are near the Lerma River before its possible growth due to the rains of the phenomenon. During the rains:• Extreme precautions for wind with gusts greater than 60 kilometers per hour, whirlwinds and / or hoppers paying special attention to constructions of flimsy material, as well as possible effects on spectacular and power lines.• Extreme precautions when walking through open spaces, since gusts of wind can devastate or turn objects into projectiles• Seek shelter in houses and buildings of solid construction.•          Attend to any sound produced by moving debris, such as collapsing trees or boulders colliding with each other.• Stay alert for mud and rocks on the road, cracks or deformations of the pavement, as these may indicate the presence of a hillside movement.• In case of imminent danger, evacuate the area immediately and do not try to save belongings.• Take extreme precautions when transiting through gaps and rural roads, in the face of low visibility, slippery terrain, possible landslides of mountains or sudden avenues of water with dragging material.• Do not try to cross riverbeds, streams, fords and low areas because it can be dragged by water.• If there is a risk of a landslide or rolling of stones dislodge immediately.• Check the existence of trees and inclined poles, immediately notify Civil Protection in case of observing any sign of instability. For any report of risk situations, affectations due to natural disasters or accidents, it was made available to the emergency telephone number, 9-1-1.Hurricane Rick is located on land, 25 km north-northeast of Lázaro Cárdenas and has maximum sustained winds of 165 km / h, gusts of 205 km / h and displacement to the north at 13 km / h, at the cut of 07:00 hours.
