After the pandemic, Casaclub Baires opens its doors

Casaclub Baires is a non-profit mental health organization and, in turn, is part of Clubhouse International, an organization that brings together and accompanies the development of more than 300 existing Clubhouses around the world, with the aim of building communities of mutual support for the social and labor inclusion of those with persistent mental illnesses, providing them with new opportunities to live, learn and work, as well as to advance in the promotion of support initiatives and information related to their relatives.
Currently, Argentina has a Casaclub in Rosario, the first Spanish-speaking Casaclub in Latin America founded in 2007 and one in Buenos Aires, the latter being presented in 2018 in front of the National Library with the name Casaclub Baires. The central characteristic of the institutions are made up of people who voluntarily join the community and are the members of it. Casaclub Baires has several programs that allow to accompany, support and promote the social and labor inclusion of its members. They are: social and recreational during the afternoons, after the working day and on weekends, educational to achieve vocational goals and find opportunities for study within society and employment, which provide the opportunity to have paid work experiences within the commercial or business sector. Cecilia Salas Gatti, Executive Director of Casaclub Baires, assures that: “Casaclub is a community where, through the construction of affective bonds, the skills of each one are enhanced. People live their lives and not a diagnosis. It is not mental illness that makes life difficult, but the barriers that society puts in front of them.”
