CIDE removes Finance Officer After Meeting with Students in Protest

The Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE) announced the removal of Dimpna Gisela Morales González, as coordinator of Administration and Finance, one day after the appointment of José Antonio Romero Tellaeche as general director, and hours after meeting with students who reject the new direction.
In a statement, the study center announced that the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit proposed Adolfo Fernández Ruiz to take the position, so the appointment will apply from this Wednesday, December 1.
The CIDE management highlighted Fernández Ruiz’s experience in public administration and thanked Morales “for the work done,” without offering more detail of the decision.

Meanwhile, the student community that has rejected the appointment of Romero Tellaeche expressed their concern about the decision since they consider that Morales González was the people who openly cared about the well-being of the students and the institution.

“The Mtra. Gisela was our only way to communicate with the authorities and maintain control of security at our school. So his dismissal is another example of the position of the authorities to deny dialogue and attack his community,” they said in a statement.
According to the students, two people sent by Romero Tellaeche took photographs of the students and teachers who brought food to the students protesting at the facilities. Both would have asked if Morales González had met with them; hours later they announced his dismissal.
