INE ‘attack vs rights’ by postponing revocation: governors of Morena

Governors of Morena described the decision of the National Electoral Institute (INE) to postpone the revocation of the mandate due to lack of budget, as an attack “against the political rights enshrined in the Constitution,” and asked it to reconsider its determination.
In a position, the governors and the head of government said that “it seems that some of the councilors of the electoral body found it easier to explain “why not” to enable the exercise of a right, than to find “how yes” could be guaranteed. ”

According to the signatories, “what is at stake is not the result of a specific consultation, what is at stake is whether Mexicans have the right to be taken into account for the transcendental decisions of our homeland.”
“Democracy is not a process that is lived only every six years, it must be a system where every day the people exercise their rights of participation and decision. That is why we ask the INE councilors to reconsider this decision, with a guarantor perspective in favor of participatory democracy,” they said.

The deployment was signed by the governors María del Pilar Ávila (Baja California), Layda Sansores (Campeche), Indira Vizcaíno (Colima), Evelyn Salgado (Guerrero), Lorena Cuéllar (Tlaxcala) and the head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum.
Governors Víctor Castro (Baja California), Rutilio Escandón (Chiapas), Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla (Michoacán), Cuauhtémoc Blanco (Morelos), Miguel Ángel Navarro (Nayarit), Miguel Barbosa (Puebla), Ricardo Gallardo (San Luis Potosí), Rubén Rocha (Sinaloa), Alfonso Durazo (Sonora), Carlos Manuel Merino (Tabasco), Cuitláhuac García (Veracruz) and David Monreal (Zacatecas) also signed.
After the INE informed its decision to postpone the revocation of the mandate, the coordinator of the senators of Morena, Ricardo Monreal, considered that the Institute can seek by conciliation, with the Executive and the Ministry of Finance, an economic support to carry out the consultation.
Monreal called not only the INE, but also some sectors of Morena to calm down, because he does not share the idea of denouncing the electoral councilors and applying an impeachment for their decision.
