Elisa Loncon after Gabriel Boric’s triumph in the runoff: “It is important that the institutions put themselves at the service of the CC”

The president of the Constitutional Convention, Elisa Loncon, reacted to the triumph of Gabriel Boric (Apruebo Dignidad) in the runoff, in which he beat the standard-bearer of the Christian Social Front, José Antonio Kast.
“It is always necessary to have institutional support. It is very important that the institutions put themselves at the service of the work of the Convention, so I am very grateful,” she said about the future that comes with the next head of state and the body in charge of writing the new Magna Carta, slogan Radio Bío Bío.
Recall that Elisa Loncon and the entire current directive of the Convention, must leave their positions on January 4, giving way to new names.
On the influence that Sunday’s results could have on the election of the new board, Loncon said: “Here is not the Convention of a certain political party, of a certain coalition. This Convention is the most democratic space that has been given to citizens.”
In addition, he added that “all sectors are represented and no one is in the majority,” so there must be “agreement” to advance in the process. “Here are political sectors, but there is also a majority of conventional independents or some more identified with sectors of the left and others more right,” he said.
The president of the Constitutional Convention mentioned that there are also groups of social movements, feminists and first nations, so “in this context, inclusive work is maintained, inclusive, parity and plurinational democracy that was installed from the first moment,” she concluded.
