18 people were treated in hospitals in the City for injuries at Christmas

At least 18 people were treated in the City of Buenos Aires after suffering injuries during Christmas Eve as a result of pyrotechnics, corks or fights. The renowned Santa Lucía Ophthalmology Hospital, located in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of San Cristóbal, was the busiest health center after the Christmas toast, since eleven people came there, including four children under 15 years old. Nine of the admitted patients had to be treated for injuries caused by pyrotechnics, while the remaining two were for aggressions and accidents when uncorking bottles. Meanwhile, the Hospital de Quemados, in Caballito, was attended by four minors between 5 and 13 years old and an adult: the children arrived at the place with minor pyrotechnic injuries, while the 43-year-old patient was injured while handling a fireworks console. None of those treated required hospitalization. Finally, another of the places that usually have activity in the New Year’s Eve Festivities is the Pedro Lagleyze Hospital, located in La Paternal and specialized in ophthalmology. There were two patients with injuries caused by pyrotechnic elements, although the cases were not serious: it was an 11-year-old boy and a woman of 50.With these indicators, the low number of injured that has been noticed in recent years is ratified, product of awareness campaigns to reduce the consumption of fireworks and pyrotechnics.
