Russia reports more than 23,000 new cases

The authorities of Russia have confirmed this Sunday more than 23,000 new infections by coronavirus although the country has fallen again from the thousand deaths per day, as it did on Friday, in what seems to indicate that the rebound that extended until November and that led the country to notify historical maximums has ended. The national operational center for the fight against the coronavirus has indicated in its latest balance that during the last 24 hours there have been 23,721 infections and 968 deaths, which brings the total figures since the beginning of the pandemic to 10,392,020 and 304,218, respectively. The day before, an additional 24,946 cases of infection with the virus and 981 associated deaths were reported. The capital, Moscow, is listed as the Russian city with the most cases and deaths during the last day, with 2,180 and 71, respectively. For its part, St. Petersburg has confirmed 1,851 infections and 64 deaths, while the Moscow province has reported 1,565 positives. The agency has also highlighted that 9,259,771 people have recovered to date from COVID-19, while the National Consumer Protection Office (Rospotrebnadzor) has indicated that 1.4 million people are under observation as possible cases.
