Cecilia Graciela Mingüer Vargas was the director of maco and started protests after the closure of the museum last year when it was intended to dismiss the staff, after the financial problems that the agency had after being managed by a private board of trustees.
The then director had denounced that the civil association Amigos del MACO, which evicted all the employees of the museum, accumulated debts of more than one million pesos in salaries.

According to the employees, the board of trustees did not want to answer whether or not it recognizes the debt.
“We make public our fear of not only losing our source of work and our salaries owed so far, but of suffering physical aggression by the people who make up the board of directors of Friends of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca A.C.”, said the workers at the beginning of last year, according to the newspaper Reforma.
