AMLO tests positive for COVID after showing symptoms at conference

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that he was infected with COVID-19 and that he has mild symptoms.
“I will remain in isolation and I will only do office work and communicate virtually until I get ahead,” he posted this afternoon, after the morning of Monday, January 10, he presented symptoms at a press conference.

I inform you that I am infected with #COVID19 and although the symptoms are mild, I will remain in isolation and only perform office work and communicate virtually until I get ahead.

The president published that the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López Hernández, will represent him in press conferences and other events.
Although the president said it was “flu,” he accepted that it had “dawned hoarse,” and ruled out the disease.

– I hear him hoarse, they pointed at him in the morning conference.
“Yes, I woke up hoarse, I’m going to get tested (COVID) later, but I think it’s the flu,” he replied.

Since last Friday he had been questioned about his possible contagion, after it was announced that the Secretary of Economy, Tatiana Clouthier, had come out positive in the COVID-19 test.
Although López Obrador reported that he had lived with her days before, he denied that he had any symptoms of the disease and said that because of this he would not be tested.
“I have no symptoms, the truth is that I am very well, when you have symptoms is when you have to get tested, then I am very well,” he replied when asked if he would be tested for COVID.
Last week, Mexico City’s health secretary, Oliva López Arellano, said that if people have symptoms of COVID-19, it is not necessary to be tested, but they must assume they have it and isolate themselves.
He pointed out that if they have runny nose, sore throat, headache and severed body, it can be assumed that you have coronavirus, as they are the symptoms that are being linked to the new omicron variant.
This weekend, the Ministry of Health reported that COVID infections in Mexico have increased 186% in two weeks.
