Jose Maria “Pechito” Lopez placed fifth in the 24 Hours of Daytona

The winner of the race was the Acura of the Brazilian Castroneves, the Frenchman Pagenaud, the Polish Blomqvist and the British Jarvis.José María López, who ran for the first time the classic 24 Hours of Daytona, was able to complete good passes in which at all times he inherited the car from his Japanese teammate, Kamui Kobayashi.Behind them followed them Mike Rockenfeller and Jimmie Johnson, who also achieved good passages when they were behind the wheel to complete the recovery on the track. Despite some problems that did not allow them to finish higher in the general, in which they finished eleventh, the men of Ally Racing had very good stages in which they maintained the pace of the leaders. In addition, Kobayashi stood out among the four having placed the Cadillac in the first place, both at the beginning and in his second pass, and did so in five periods, completing a total of 80 laps at the front of the competition. In the early morning there was an inconvenience in the suspension that forced them to stop for 40 minutes and that practically cost them the race. However, they were able to return to the track and regained several positions.
