Former Commissioner Facundo Rosas formally imprisoned for Fast and Furious

A judge issued a formal prison order to Facundo Rosas, former undersecretary of security during the government of Felipe Calderón, for his participation in the case known as Fast and Furious, in which authorities colluded to illegally introduce weapons into Mexico.
This, after he was arrested and transferred to the facilities of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in Matters of Organized Crime on January 27.
The crime for which the formal prison order was issued is that contemplated in article 84 of the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives, which states that “anyone who participates in the introduction into the national territory, in a clandestine manner, shall be imposed from 5 to 30 years in prison. of weapons, ammunition, cartridges, explosives and materials for the exclusive use of the Army, Navy and Air Force or subject to control, in accordance with this Law”.

At first, the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City for running over and causing the death of a woman in the San Ángel neighborhood, of the Álvaro Obregón mayor’s office.
According to investigations by federal authorities, Facundo Rosas Rosas is likely responsible for having participated in an illegal scheme – implemented in collaboration with US authorities – through which about two thousand illegal firearms were allegedly introduced into Mexico.
Authorities with knowledge of the case confirmed to this media that Rosas Rosas was summoned to testify at the beginning of last year before the Public Ministry, as part of the investigation folder SEIDO/UEITA-SON/0000306/2020 initiated for the crimes of organized crime, violations of the federal law of firearms and explosives, among other serious crimes.
