The January with more work, more than 142 thousand new jobs are created: IMSS

In January alone, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) registered an increase of 142,271 jobs, the highest figure in the first month of the year since it has been recorded.
At the cut of January 31, there were 20 million 762 thousand 419 jobs registered with the institute, of which 86.7% are permanent and 13.3% are temporary.
In 2021, the highest annual increase on record was recorded, with a recovery of 940,768 positions, which is equivalent to an annual rate of 4.7%.

Compared to the first month of last year, in January 2022 the sectors that presented the most recovery of jobs were: transport and communications, construction, extractive and trade.
While the entities that experienced the highest numbers of positions, unlike a year ago, were Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Baja California Sur, Hidalgo and Nayarit.

The IMSS reported that until January 31, the average base salary of affiliated positions reached 466.8 pesos; that is, a nominal annual increase of 8.9%.
Regarding the people insured with the institute, there are about 8.3 million, which are distributed between the Optional Insurance, the Family Health Insurance and those who are in the Voluntary Continuation scheme of the Compulsory Regime.

A month ago, the IMSS said that in 2021 the creation of 846,416 formal jobs was registered. Until the most recent report, it was the highest increase in the entire history of the Institute, equivalent to an annual rate of 4.3%.
According to the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOEN), of the Inegi, until the end of 2021, a total of 32.2 million people had an informal job, that is, they did not have social security or contract, which represented 56.5% of the population with work in the country.

Inegi reported that in December 2021 there were 56.9 million people in employment, a figure that represented an increase of 4.3 million people, compared to the same month in 2020.
Of these, only 24.7 million had a formal job, which is 43.5% of the total, below the 56.5% of the population in the informal sector.
