Covid-19: Minsal confirms that “we continue with a high number of daily cases”, but affirms that growth rate shows decrease in last 7 and 14 days

The Ministry of Health reported on new cases of Covid-19 in Chile, of which 28% are diagnosed by antigen test, 39% originate by Active Case Finding (BAC) and 20% of those reported are asymptomatic.
“We continue with a high number of daily cases during this week but we can observe that the growth rate, compared to the same day of the previous week, shows a decrease in the previous 7 and 14 days. If last Saturday we showed an increase of 53% in relation to the previous 7 days, this Saturday, February 12, we can see a growth of 9% with respect to the last 7 days, “said the Minister of Health Enrique Paris.
Six regions decreased their new confirmed cases from the last 7 days and two, the cases from the last 14 days. While the regions that presented the largest increase in cases in the last week were Los Ríos, Ñuble, Maule and La Araucanía.
124,704 tests including PCR and antigen were reported from 186 laboratories nationwide. The positivity of the PCR tests is 26.79%.
The Secretary of State, in the framework of the fact that during this weekend the second half of February begins, called on people who are starting vacations to maintain self-care measures during their rest period.
“We are still in a pandemic, with the Ómicron variant and that is why it is necessary to maintain self-care measures at all times, especially on these dates in which people are with greater mobility and sharing with family and friends. Vaccination is also part of the measures, get vaccinated. Today we have more than 40 vaccination centers available in the metropolitan region. According to today’s report, of the 35,841 new cases of Covid-19, 20,419 correspond to symptomatic people and 5,027 have no symptoms. In addition, there were 10,395 positive PCR tests that were not reported.
The total number of people who have been diagnosed with the disease in the country reaches 2,582,934. Of that total, 131,410 patients are in the active stage. Recovered cases are 2,404,031
As for the deaths, according to the information provided by the DEIS, in the last 24 hours there were 94 deaths due to causes associated with the virus. The total number of deaths in the country is 40,464.
To date, 790 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 629 are supported by mechanical ventilation. In relation to the Integrated Health Network, there is a total of 174 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where he or she is.
Regarding the Laboratory Network and diagnostic capacity, yesterday the results of 124,704 PCR tests and antigen tests were reported, reaching to date a total of 31,411,419 analyzed nationwide. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 26.79% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 25.71%.
With respect to the Health Residences, we have 45 lodging facilities, with 4,305 total beds. The actual occupancy nationwide is 56%, leaving a total of 1,454 beds available to be used.
