AMLO must refrain from promoting Revocation of Mandate: TEPJF

By unanimous votes, the Electoral Tribunal of the Judicial Power of the Federation confirmed the agreement in which the Complaints and Denunciations Commission of the National Electoral Institute (INE) asks the president to refrain from promoting the Revocation of Mandate.
This, after last February 4, the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) denounced President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, derived from various expressions in the morning conference of February 2, considering that it was an illegal promotion of the process of Revocation of Mandate, which implied improper use of public resources.

The PRD, under the figure of preventive guardianship, requested that the president be ordered to adhere to the constitutional limitations to which he is subject and not to promote the exercise in any of his public presentations. Initially, the INE determined that the precautionary measure was appropriate.
Faced with this decision, the head of the Executive, the general coordinator of social communication, the spokesman of the Government of the Republic, the director of the Center for the Production of Informative and Special Programs and the Morena party filed appeals for review of the special sanctioning procedure.

At the proposal of Judge Felipe Alfredo Fuentes Barrera, the TEPJF confirmed the decision of the INE, because it was noticed a repeated and systematic conduct on the part of the president, consisting of using this communication tool to disseminate government propaganda, which constitutes an objective and reasonable element to estimate the well-founded fear and imminent risk that the conduct would be repeated in the restricted period.
Therefore, the Superior Chamber confirmed that, under the figure of preventive protection, the President of the Republic would be ordered to adhere to the constitutional limitations on the dissemination of government propaganda.
