Prosecutor’s Office of CDMX requests hearing to proceed against Sandra Cuevas, mayor of Cuauhtémoc

The Prosecutor’s Office of Mexico City formally requested to hold an initial hearing to charge the mayor of Cuauhtémoc, Sandra Cuevas, with the crimes of theft and abuse of authority, after the complaint filed by police against her.
According to the agency, the hearing had to be postponed after the absence of the mayor, denounced by two commanders of the Auxiliary Police, who said they had been physically and verbally assaulted by Sandra Cuevas, as well as by several men who accompanied her.
The hearing was requested after the probable commission of the crimes of theft and abuse of authority, which occurred on February 11, which were denounced by two commanders of the Auxiliary Police (PA), before the agent of the Public Ministry of the Prosecutor’s Office for the Investigation of the Crime of Kidnapping, of the General Coordination of High Impact Crimes.

The new date for the holding of the hearing will be on Monday, February 28, at 11 in the morning, reported the Prosecutor’s Office of the capital.
The investigation, according to the version of the Prosecutor’s Office, was initiated by different actions to reorder informal commerce in the Historic Center, in coordination with authorities of Mexico City, which generated a difference in terms of competition for the issue of sale on public roads in the perimeter of Correo Mayor and Circunvalación.
Although a meeting had been agreed to discuss the issue, the two commanders of the auxiliary police were summoned to a meeting with Sandra Cuevas, supposedly to coordinate the work.

According to the first investigations, in the mayor’s office were the head of the demarcation, the director of markets on public roads and the director of security and civil protection.
In addition, in the complaint filed they refer that the head of the mayor’s office asked them not to denounce the facts because “it would have repercussions against the owner of the demarcation.”
