“The beginning of the end of the bars” of Mexican football has arrived: Mikel Arriola

After 11 days since the violence that occurred at the La Corregidora stadium, Mikel Arriola, executive president of Liga MX, announced the “beginning of the end of the bars” in Mexican football.
At the celebration of the 10th Investiture Ceremony of the International Football Hall of Fame, Arriola told the media that work was being done to begin control of the bars before next season.
He explained that, as part of the sanction measures, the entrance to the bars of the visiting teams is not being allowed, and the shield with which “the criminal members of the animation groups operated”, which they allegedly used as a disguise, was removed.

“The moment the anonymity goes away, as we’ve seen in other countries around the world, we start to really have control of the animation groups and that’s what the end of the season is going for.”
Arriola indicated that it is planned to reach the beginning of the next season with the Fan ID system, as had already been resolved in extraordinary session by the Assembly of Clubs of liga MX and the Mexican Football Federation (Femexfut).

On April 8, days after the confrontation between the fan bars in the match between the Club del Querétaro and atlas, the exemplary sanctions determined by the Disciplinary Commission of femexfut were announced, including the mandatory implementation of the Fan ID of all fans who enter the area of local animation groups, in the 2022-2023 Season.

This, in addition to the mandatory credentialing and the implementation of facial recognition systems, which will later be applied to fans in general.
For the 2022-2023 Season, the Federation said, all Liga MX stadiums must have a facial recognition system for the identification of fans inside the stadium.
In addition, the area intended for local bars will only be able to receive credentialed fans, and minors will not be allowed access to the area.
Other sanctions include a ban on the entry of visiting Animation Groups to any Liga MX stadium – at least until further notice – and a definitive ban on Mexican football to people found guilty of the events that took place in Querétaro.
Last Saturday, February 5, approximately at the 63rd minute of Club Querétaro’s match against Atlas, an outbreak of violence in the stands between fans of both teams overflowed to the court.
According to official reports from the local government, there were 26 people injured and no deaths.
