Life imprisonment for Andrés Mendoza, accused in femicides of Atizapán

A judge has ordered Andrés Filomeno Mendoza Celis to be imprisoned for life for one of the six femicides in which he is related, after the discovery of remains at his home in Atizapán, State of Mexico, in May 2021.
The Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Mexico announced that the femicide for which the 72-year-old man was sentenced occurred in the municipality of Atizapán, on May 14, 2021.

The victim was a 34-year-old woman, who was murdered and whose remains were found inside the house of Mendoza Celis on Margaritas Street, in the Lomas de San Miguel neighborhood, in Atizapán.
The judge of the Judicial District of Tenango del Valle also imposed fines of 5 thousand days of minimum wage and 1 million 344 thousand 500 pesos as compensation for the damage.

According to the Mexican Prosecutor’s Office, more than 4,300 skeletal remains have been located in the home of the person responsible, corresponding to 19 people, of which six victims have been identified.
They have also collected IDs, notebooks with people’s names and their descriptions, as well as photographs, jewelry, bags, footwear and videos in VHS and 9-millimeter formats.
