Edilberto Pastrana, a former candidate for the municipal presidency of Santiago Jamiltepec, Oaxaca, was shot dead on Saturday, the Attorney General’s Office (FGE) said.
In social networks, the FGE reported that the murder of the former candidate of the Labor Party occurred in Barrio Chico, so the investigation folder 9500/FCOS/JAMILTEPEC-/2022 was initiated.
The events occurred on the night of March 19, 2022, in the Barrio Chico, where the victim suffered a shooting attack, resulting from which he lost his life.

“After having knowledge of the case, the FGEO began with the investigations and deployed a multidisciplinary team to process the scene of the events to look for indications that lead to clarification,” the agency said.

According to reports from Quadratin, Pastrana Cuevas, candidate of the Labor Party to the first council of Jamiltepec in 2021, was killed when he arrived at his home. He was currently working at Banco Azteca.
In the first two months of 2022, 247 investigation folders were initiated for the crime of homicide in Oaxaca, according to figures from the Executive System of the National Public Security System. In 88 cases, the murders were committed with a firearm.
