Christina Ricci, the iconic Merlina Addams, will appear in “Wednesday,” the series centered on the adventures of the youngest daughter of the Mad Addams clan, which will be directed by renowned filmmaker Tim Burton.

This was revealed by the specialized media Deadline, and although the details of her participation are kept secret for greater impact of the public, what is known is that her character will accompany the protagonist in her adventures.
Ricci, comes from premiering outstanding productions such as “Yellowjackets”, about which he spoke with Filo.News and “Matrix Resurrections”, the fourth part of the Lana Wachowsky franchise with Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne-Moss. Her return as Merlina Addams (who is called Wednesday in her original English) will be a real nod, given that she played the macabre girl in the two Barry Sonnefeld-directed films of 1991 and 1993.

However, although it is due to a truly significant participation, it would be a “last minute signing”. This should be -according to the information that transcended- to the loss of the actress Thora Birch (“Abracadabra”, which by the way prepares its sequel), who had to leave the series for family reasons.
The protagonist of the series will be the 19-year-old American actress (with Puerto Rican and Mexican descent) Jenna Ortega, who participated as a child in the series “Rob” and “CSI: New York”; since 2016 in the Disney series “Caught in the Middle” (as Harley Diaz); she also voiced the animated film “Jurassic World: Cretaceous Camp” and played Ellie Alves in “You” (both for Netflix).
For the rest of the family, Catherine Zeta-Jones will be the matriarch Morticia, and actor Luis Guzman (“Narcos,” “Carlito’s Way” and “Magnolia”) will play Homer, the father.

It is estimated to consist of eight episodes, written by Al Gough (“Shanghai Noon,” “Shanghai Knights” and “Spider-Man 2”) and Miles Millar (“Charlie’s Angels” and “Aquaman”), creators of “Smallville.” It will follow the growth of Merlina who “tries to master her psychic ability, thwart a monstrous wave of murders that has terrorized the local city and solve the supernatural mystery that involved her parents 25 years ago. All while experiencing his new and very tangled relationships in Nevermore, “as detailed in his plot. For Burton it will be his debut in streaming and small screen content, except for sporadic work in a 1986 episode of “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” or in “Hansel and Gretel” (1983).
