Army “Reserved Expenses” Case: Minister Romy Rutherford Prosecutes Four Military Personnel (r)

The visiting minister of the Court Martial, Romy Rutherford, subjected to trial four retired military officers for embezzlement of public funds, a crime they would have committed between 2006 and 2010, in the edge called “Reserved Expenses”, of the investigation for fraud in the Army.
In the resolution, the visiting minister prosecuted the former General Cristián Le Dantec Gallardo, as the author of the crime of embezzlement of public funds for a total amount of 83,052.6 monthly tax units (UTM), equivalent, currently, to $ 4,612,492,246. The offence was allegedly committed between March 2006 and December 2008.
Meanwhile, the former director of finance of the Army Sergio Gómez Bannura was indicted as the author of the same crime, which he would have perpetrated between January 2009 and March 2010, for an amount of 33,114.1 UTM, equivalent, to date, to $ 1,839,057,771.
Regarding the former head of finance of the military branch Francisco Javier Pizarro Barrios was prosecuted as the author of embezzlement of public funds in the period March 2006 – March 2010, for an amount of 12,749.4 UTM, equivalent to $ 708,063,427.
Finally, the visiting minister expanded the prosecution against Colonel (r) Jorge Cortés Díaz, adding the crime of embezzlement of public funds that he would have perpetrated between March 2006 and March 2010, for a total amount of 116,166, 7 UTM, which is equivalent to $6,451,550,018 currently.
Likewise, the seizure of assets for a total amount of $4.8 billion was decreed with respect to the defendant Le Dantec Gallardo; $2 billion in relation to Gómez Bannura; $800 million corresponding to Pizarro Barrios and the decreed embargo of Cortés Díaz’s assets was extended for the additional sum of $6.6 billion.
All the defendants are in pretrial detention in the Military Police Battalion of Peñalolén.
