President Gabriel Boric arrives in Argentina on his first state visit abroad

President Gabriel Boric arrived in Argentina on Sunday and was received by Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero on his first state visit abroad since taking office last March.

The official activity will officially begin this Monday, with the delivery of a floral offering before the monument to the Liberator General José de San Martín and later a meeting with his Argentine counterpart, Alberto Fernández, at Casa Rosada, seat of the Executive Power.
Boric and Fernández will sign a series of agreements and then make statements to the press, according to a statement from the Argentine Presidency.
After the meeting of Fernández and Boric, an expanded meeting of ministers from both delegations will be held.
Subsequently, the Chilean president will arrive at the National Congress where he will sign the Book of Honor, participate in an official photo, and hold a meeting, along with his entourage, with the provisional president of the Senate, Claudia Ledesma Abdala de Zamora, the head of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa, and other parliamentary authorities.
Boric will then move to the Palace of Justice where he will be received by the Vice President of the Supreme Court, Carlos Rosenkrantz.
Finally, the Chilean president will be entertained with a show at the Kirchner Cultural Center and the Argentine head of state will offer a dinner in honor.
The next day, Gabriel Boric will inaugurate the business forum of the Argentina-Chile Trade Committee, which will be attended by about 50 businessmen from both countries and which will be held at the Argentine Foreign Ministry.
Accompanying President Boric on this visit are the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonia Urrejola; the Minister of Defense, Maya Fernández; the Minister of Energy, Claudio Huepe; the Minister of Women and Gender Equity, Antonia Orellana, and the Minister of Culture, Julieta Brodsky.
On March 31, Cafiero received Chile’s new ambassador to Buenos Aires, Bárbara Figueroa, on the eve of Boric’s visit.
This visit “opens an opportunity to resume with dynamism the bilateral agenda of friendship, cooperation and integration,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The leaders, of the same political color, have maintained from the beginning a close relationship full of gestures.
During the inauguration of the youngest president (36 years old) and voted in the history of Chile, on March 11, Fernández said that he has “the best expectations” about the Boric Government.
“For Latin America it is a great boost because he is a president who thinks about the region and that makes us very happy,” Fernández added.
Regarding bilateral relations between the two nations, Fernández stressed that Argentina and Chile have an “indissoluble” bond and that it can never be “broken.”
