Treasury will maintain subsidy to gasoline in border area

The Government of Mexico announced that it will keep the price of gasoline stable throughout the territory of the country, including the border region, despite the fact that in recent days the international price of fuel has increased as a result of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
In a statement, he said that this has caused gasoline prices in Mexico to be cheaper than in the United States, and stressed that despite the increase in demand for fuels and the increase in imports, prices have remained.
According to the federal government, Pemex has maintained the supply of gasoline and has inventories of a national production to supply the demand in the north and all regions of the country.

The Ministry of Finance reiterated its commitment to keep the price of gasoline stable and on a path that is only updated by the pace of inflation.

To this end, not only has the entire stimulus on the IEPS of gasoline been activated, but also an additional incentive that will be credited against the ISR or VAT, “in order to support the economy of households and avoid increases in the costs of transporting goods in our country.”
The statement from the Government of Mexico comes a day after the Ministry of Finance reported that there were gasoline shortages in areas of the northern border, due to high fuel costs in the world and lower prices in the country compared to those of the United States.
In addition to the increase in demand for gasoline, the Treasury reported problems in the supply as a result of importers having stopped acquiring them, so the alternative of the service stations in the region is to acquire the product from Pemex.
