$3 million awards for sustainability projects

The Zayed Sustainability Award seeks to recognize those entrepreneurs from around the world who promote sustainability solutions of high growth, impact and innovation. The United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) pioneering global award, which assists organizations and secondary schools with sustainability solutions with an annual fund of $3 million, has already opened registrations. For 14 years, the fund has rewarded the winners of five categories: Health, Food, Energy, Water and Global High Schools. In each case, a candidate is chosen who will receive $600,000 as a prize. In its previous edition, Mamotest, an Argentine company committed to reducing deaths from breast cancer, won in the “Health” category.
Applications are open until July 6, 2022. Small and medium-sized enterprises, non-profit organizations and secondary schools are invited to participate. Organizations must demonstrate that they are improving access to essential products or services and that they have a long-term vision for improving living and working conditions. In the case of the Global High Schools category, projects must be student-led. The Zayed Sustainability Award has a three-phase evaluation process, starting with due diligence conducted by an independent research and analysis consultancy. It identifies qualified candidates and selects eligible candidates. The evaluations are then carried out by a Selection Committee, made up of groups of independent international experts for each category. From this list of candidates, the finalists are chosen and sent to the Prize Jury, which unanimously chooses the winners of the five categories.  The winners will be announced in 2023 during an awards ceremony as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW).
