Zelensky Announces Blinken and Austin’s Visit to Ukraine on Sunday

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the arrival in Ukraine of U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, while expressing hope for an early visit by White House chief Joe Biden.
At a press conference, Zelensky said that during the visit of Blinken and Austin they will talk about the weapons that Ukraine needs and about the pace of delivery.
“We would like to have heavy and powerful weapons,” he said, while noting that the situation as far as weaponry is concerned has improved in the last week.
He also expressed his hope that very soon the security situation will allow the personal visit to Ukraine of US President Joe Biden to “support the Ukrainian people.”
“In times of war we cannot refuse the most powerful military aid and it comes precisely from the United States and the United Kingdom. In addition, there are many European friends, but we understand the volumes of this aid,” Zelensky was quoted as saying by unian news agency.
In this regard, he affirmed that “the United States is the world leader, so it sets the pace and tone of negotiations and aid.”
In most cases, it “influences whether a certain European state or another can provide us with the weapons that are important to us” and that is why the United States “is a strategic partner,” he said.
In this regard, he added that he would still like to accelerate the pace more.
