The alleged murderer of journalist José Luis Gamboa is arrested

Elements of the ministerial police arrested the alleged murderer of Veracruz journalist José Luis Gamboa, which occurred on January 10 of this year.
In a statement, the state prosecutor’s office reported that an arrest warrant was completed against Eduardo “N”, for the alleged crime of intentional homicide qualified in tort of the journalist.

The detainee was transferred to the Pacho Viejo prison, where a control judge of the Eleventh District of Xalapa would be in charge of defining his legal situation.

Luis Gamboa Arenas was general director of the digital newspaper Inforegio and was murdered in the port of Veracruz. The homicide occurred on Monday, January 10, but it was until Friday, January 14, when the formal identification of Gamboa Arenas was carried out by his relatives.

The State Commission for the Attention and Protection of Journalists (CEAPP) reported that, according to information from the ministerial authority, the main line of investigation of the case is not related to the journalistic activity of the victim. Despite that, she said she will be very attentive to the evolution of the case.
