Opposition warns AMLO that electoral reform will not happen

After President Andrés Manuel López Obrador sent to Congress a constitutional reform in electoral matters, where he proposes, among other things, to disappear the INE, opposition legislators demonstrated against it and affirmed that this attempt to “put at risk” democracy, will not pass.
This would put Morena in trouble because being a constitutional reform, it needs 334 votes, that is, two-thirds of the 500 deputies, in case they all attend.
Alejandro Moreno, leader of the PRI, said that this reform only seeks to distract from the real problems of the country and that it will not happen.

“As it stands, without consensus, without dialogue and without commitment, the electoral reform announced today by the Federal Executive does not pass in the Congress of the Union,” Alejandro Moreno said in a statement.
The PRI leader said amlo’s initiative does not innovate at all and is only a distraction to avoid attacking the country’s real problems.
“From the outset that reform does not happen. Morena wants to distract us with electoral reform while the country falls apart.”

Rubén Moreira, coordinator of the tricolor caucus in San Lázaro, said that he “does not see a future” to various approaches of the presidential initiative.
“I don’t think we’re in a position to discuss it in an extraordinary period. Let’s see what the majority wants to do, if it is going to make a forum, if it makes parliaments, with what seriousness they are going to face it, and if they are willing, above all, to dialogue, because if at the end of everything they insist on their proposals, then they will have the same result, “he said.
On the side of the PAN, Jorge Romero, leader of the PAN caucus, said that they are going with reforms that defend the institutions and not those that put democracy at risk.

The @diputadospan will analyze the #ReformaElectoral of the President. We will not allow any reform that represents a setback and puts democracy at risk. We will present our electoral reform initiative that seeks to strengthen institutions and looks forward.

Deputy Mario Riestra Piña reaffirmed the position of the PAN and told the president not to count on his votes to “disappear the INE.”
“Let it be clear to you, no matter how many embassies they come to offer, in this House there are counterweights, there is opposition and do not count on us to disappear the INE,” Deputy Mario Riestra Piña told the plenary.

. The opposition resists and is more united than ever!

Let it be clear to you, no matter how many embassies they come to offer, in this @Mx_Diputados there are counterweights, there is opposition and do not count on us to disappear the @INEMexico.

Through a statement, the PRD described the proposal as an authoritarian attempt to weaken the INE to make way for an authoritarian state that organized the elections.

The coordinator of the PRD deputies, Luis Cházaro, said that they will add their votes to those of the PRI and PAN so that the disappearance of the IINE does not materialize.
Regarding the Citizens’ Movement caucus, Jorge Álvarez Máynez, leader of the “orange” deputies, described the presidential initiative as a “vulgar provocation”; situation with which his companion Solomon Chertorivsky coincided:
“Another monstrosity of constitutional reform. Now the electoral one. In all punctuality I tell them: it doesn’t happen.”
