Truckers’ Headquarters Raided for Alleged Illegal Payments

The judge of Guarantees of San Nicolás María Eugenia Maiztegui ordered today a raid on the headquarters of the truckers’ union to seek documentation on alleged illegal payments by the company Rey, of San Pedro, which suffered a blockade in its accesses by two local leaders who claimed union dues owed. The Moyanos’ lawyer, Daniel Llermanos, said that the raid was aimed at determining whether the money received by Maximiliano Emanuel Cabaleyro and Fernando José Espíndola, both detainees, had indeed been entered into the guild’s accounts. Cabaleyro, a Nicoleño councilor of the Frente de Todos, and Espíndola led a protest against the San Pedro company that the judge described as “turmoil of possession, extortion, extortion in degree of attempt and coercion.” The sampedrina company is technically assisted by the lawyer and activist of Together for Change Florencia Arietto, historically confronted with the Moyano. The previous week, the Buenos Aires Chamber of Cassation rejected two habeas corpus proposals for the detainees to regain their freedom. Judge Maiztegui ordered on Monday the procedure to establish if the claim of both leaders was indeed related to the payment of union dues owed or if it was an action of both on their own, explained Llermanos. They took all the documentation showing that the money was deposited that same day in the union treasury. They went to claim a debt, they collected and brought the money,” he summarized. “Today is a holiday. We are not sure, but we believe that it is the thousandth raid that the union suffers,” Llermanos said ironically.
