Defense of Karina Oliva details that “there was no bad faith” in contributions delivered to other candidacies

The lawyer of the former candidate for senator for the Metropolitan region, Karina Oliva (Commons), Juan Carlos Manríquez, explained that there was no bad faith in the contributions to candidacies for the Constitutional Convention of people who are now deputies.
The statement comes after La Tercera will reveal that the former candidate for governor of RM recognized in the Electoral Service of Chile (Servel) that she delivered more than 68 million of her electoral expenses for other candidacies of her party, to which her defense indicated that the body is aware of the situation.

“They did it in good faith, due to previous inexperience in complex processes like this, although later they have been regularizing the situation before the Servel and the differences are being claimed from the Tricel. What does show that, with the documents I have seen, no undue money has gone into his pocket,” Manríquez told Emol.
In addition, the jurist pointed out that “the surrender of the first round of Karina Oliva is approved and the second round is partially approved by the Servel with reliable data that account for real services and provided by audited suppliers.”
“There is a complaint before the TRICEL for the latter and all the pertinent background information has been sent to the Prosecutor’s Office. It is false that Karina Oliva has requested tax reimbursement for 600 million pesos for the second round, since the legal maximum was 101 million,” he added.
Knowledge by the SII
The defense lawyer also stressed that the Internal Revenue Service (SII) is fully aware of one of the electoral events that generated the most controversy for Oliva, such as the feminist breakfast. “(The SII) certified that there are no invoices paid for an alleged breakfast of 50 million pesos issue that has also been ratified by the Servel,” he said.
Under that point, he explained that “more than 240 pages of vouchers of real services, provided and at market value have been delivered that were provided, analyzed and validated by the Servel to approve in stages the surrenders made.”
“I reiterate that Karina Oliva has not received electoral reimbursement for the second round of the election to the Regional Government, and that the payment corresponding to the bank loan approved by the Servel has not been made either,” he concluded.
