Governor Orrego calls on the government for security solutions: “The truth is that we have been waiting for a long time”

In a meeting with various national authorities, the Minister of the Interior, Izkia Siches, announced the security plan that will be implemented in 17 communes of the country, which will have, among other things, a greater complement of carabineros and carabineras in different sectors of the capital.
The meeting was attended by mayors and regional authorities, including the governor of the Metropolitan region, Claudio Orrego, who summoned the government of President Gabriel Boric for the current security situation in the country.
“What we have seen these days is what many people live every day in terms of fireworks, crazy bullets, territories filled with narcos, what happens is that today we are seeing it in important neighborhoods such as Central Station and the Meiggs neighborhood,” he said.
“I would tell the government again that we are here as governor. If you want us to support, tell us yes, and if not, tell us no and continue doing other tasks. But the truth is that we have been waiting for a long time,” Orrego added.
These statements come in the midst of the latest acts of violence recorded in Santiago, where last Sunday a group of street vendors shot a journalist, who remains at risk of life in the former Central Post.
