Millionaire events without transparency in Las Condes: reveal transfer of more than $ 5 billion to the cultural corporation of the municipality without public tender

“To give you an idea, 5 billion is what it costs to build a Cesfam. That is transferred to the Corporation every year, but no one knows how it is spent or who they are hired. Except for leaks. That is why as a foundation we file an appeal before the courts to give us access to this information. We trust, however, in the goodwill of the mayor so that the neighbors can know what the resources of the Muni are spent on without the need for a judicial order.”
The municipality of Las Condes remains at the center of the controversy, after América Transparente (AT) revealed millionaire salaries to officials of the Cultural Corporation of Las Condes with political and kinship ties, now they point out that only in 2021 the municipality transferred more than $ 5,500 million pesos to the cultural corporation of the commune that have not been transparent.
“This $5 billion is not only spent on salaries, but on millionaire events, events with people hired without public bidding. We want to know who is hired,” explained Juan José Lyon, executive director of the América Trasparente Foundation, according to Diario Financiero.

“There are no contracts with third parties, there is not the complete payroll of people. We want to know who works there, the salaries they have, the contracts and the purchases they make,” Lyon added, stressing that the Municipality of Las Condes — today led by Mayor Daniela Peñaloza (UDI) — does not meet transparency standards.
The Comptroller’s Office ruled that Corporations have to deliver such information for Transparency because they manage fiscal resources. But, according to AT, the municipality of Las Condes has persisted in that the ruling of the Comptroller does not apply to them.
It is worth mentioning that América Transparente (AT) also revealed that between 2019 and 2020, more than $2,000 million in remuneration was paid to officials with family ties and others with political ties with the UDI and RN.

Today we file an appeal with the Court of Appeals because Las Condes once again refused to hand over the information on what the 5 billion that it transfers every year to the Cultural Corporation are spent. We explain: (Hilo)
