Starting next Monday, June 6, registration will begin for the Pension for the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities program in Mexico City; it is expected to incorporate 181,490 beneficiaries.
The head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum, explained that the pension for people with disabilities will be universal in Mexico City.
“In Mexico City, starting this year, support for people with disabilities will be universal. It is a support that is given jointly between the government of Mexico and the government of Mexico City. The government of Mexico contributes half of the resources and we contribute the other half of the resources,” he said.

The Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel, explained that the initial investment for the program will be one billion pesos by 2022 and that it will be incorporated into people every quarter.
Registration for a pension for people with disabilities
Montiel indicated that 47 modules will be installed for the registration of beneficiaries, which will be open from June 6 to 30 and will attend from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The registration of people with permanent disabilities will be according to the first letter of the first surname.
The address of the modules will be available from tomorrow on the website of the Secretariat of Welfare and the Government of Mexico City.
He explained that in Mexico City there is a lack of incorporating 181,490 people with disabilities into the program; there are currently nearly 86,000 beneficiaries who are under the age of 64.
“At this time we are going to make the registration of people and unlike the pension of the elderly, here is a request to assess that effectively the person lives with a permanent disability and later the call for the delivery of the cards will be made,” he said.
The requirements
The essential requirements to register for the pension of people with disabilities are:
Legible birth certificate
Valid official identification (voter credential, passport, card, professional card, Inapam credential or identity card).
CURP
Proof of address not exceeding six months (telephone, electricity, gas, water or property).
Certificate of disability issued by a public institution in the health sector

The registration may also be made by an assistant of the person with disabilities and then a home visit will be made to confirm the existence of the beneficiary and conclude the procedure.
The head of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel, pointed out that disability certificates are issued by the national DIF or any public health institution; if the disability is evident, they will not be asked so that they do not have to do more paperwork.
Sheinbaum said people who don’t have the certificate can call Locatel for an appointment and are directed to go to one of the 120 health centers to be certified.
