De Paul, on the World Cup in Qatar: “We are going to make the Argentines happy”

After the conquest of the Finalissima, the Argentine midfielder Rodrigo De Paul considered this afternoon that “he played with intelligence and integrity”, and promised that during the World Cup the team “will compete and make the Argentines very happy during that month”, with five months to go until the appointment that reveals the whole country. In this sense, the Atletico Madrid midfielder said that the group was “confident, because it believes in what it does and we work. It was a nice measure to measure ourselves against the last European champion.” He added: “And today we were superior because we played with integrity and with our heads. We were smart, we knew when to accelerate and when to have the ball. In the second half we had passages in which we did very well and that is not a minor detail.”
On the other hand, he referred to the nickname of candidates for the World Cup and promised that “he is going to compete and make the Argentines very happy during that month. Bringing enthusiasm to everyone’s home is very important.” Finally, he concluded: “The coach (Lionel Scaloni) asks us to keep our feet on the ground, and it is normal for him to say that, because there is a lot of euphoria. Because it is good that our message is to be calm, since it is a reality that we are not invincible, because there are many selections that can compete with us. But we trust the coach’s message.”
