National Guard Recognizes Decrease in Highway Violations

The National Guard maintained that the decrease in infractions on the country’s roads is due to a strategy that “privileges raising awareness among drivers,” adding that its agents are still in training for the reconstruction of traffic events and the filling of infraction tickets.
The corporation issued this position after Political Animal published a note revealing that with the arrival of the National Guard the number of infractions on federal highways fell by half.
The text took up testimonies from agents, who acknowledged the difficulties in infringing, including the lack of training and shortage of ballots.

The National Guard sent a letter to this media – which does not deny the information published and is reproduced in full at the end of this text – where it accepts the decrease in infractions, and justifies that this “does not mean that the institution breaches its attributions and responsibilities.”
The corporation explained that its uniformed personnel who were assigned to federal highways are offered the courses “Knowledge taking for the reconstruction of traffic events”, starting in April 2022, with a duration of 135 hours, and “Requisition of the ticket of infraction and technical opinion of fact of transit”, with a duration of 45 hours.
On June 30, it will be three years since the formal birth of the National Guard, a security body whose creation was promoted by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and which needed a reform of the Constitution.
