“Networks in conflict” the docufiction that deals with the use of new technologies

The docuseries “Networks in conflict”, by Gisela Busaniche, starts from the premise that cyberspace has a central place in our lives and that, although she recognizes that it brought us many solutions, also new difficulties and challenges, both individually and collectively. Throughout the chapters, a series of dilemmas related to the use of new technologies and social networks are covered in order to measure their impact and awaken the critical spirit of the audience. Through the Internet we inform, educate, relate, buy and entertain, among other things; and this is how, due to its numerous benefits, we become increasingly dependent on its consumption. In a world where the new capital is attention and the most powerful tool is to communicate, it is important that, among other aspects, we become aware of the danger of being governed only by algorithms and the management of information.

In this regard, Natalia Notar, producer of the series, expressed; “The series is called Networks in Conflict because we set out to take a tour of everything that happens behind the scenes of the universe of social networks that we live today, what happens with addictions, with the new laws we need to regulate, with the diversity in the networks, with the metaverse in industries and in the daily life of each one of us. We are in a moment of conflict, in which social networks are reaching the knot of their own history.” More than 50% of the world’s population uses social media to connect from anywhere on the planet. The background we leave in them generates the most important database in history. Configured digitally, social networks structure a new order devoid of real legislation, where they segment and stratify their consumers. In addition to bringing economic benefits to these corporations, could this data be used to improve our quality of life?

These questions and many more are answered by experts in the field such as Santiago Billikins, María O’Donnell; Natalia Notar, Martín Becerra; Joan Cwaik, Natalia Aruguete; Fabricio Ballarini; Beatriz Busaniche, among others, throughout the different chapters. In them they explain, analyze and debate everything that is happening with the new world of Social Networks, digital culture, the Internet, Big Tech and the Digital Age.
